Welcome to the Coastal Louisiana Resource Information System
This Web-accessible digital clearinghouse was established to provide vital and current basin information to its constituents by deploying various data products (e.g., shapefiles, maps, remote sensed images, tabulated text, and point-source data). These products are being made available to various governmental agencies and to both the private and general public venues to support a wide-range of basin analysis activities (e.g., restoration and management, wetland loss, and land usage).

Maps and GIS
Vector Shorelines These vectorized shorelines document the historical rate and range of Louisiana Gulf shoreline change for the period from 1855 to 2005. They provide a comprehensive quantification of shoreline evolution trends along Louisiana’s Gulf shoreline and establish a baseline dataset for future restoration efforts, define the character and patterns of historical shoreline change, and quantify the rates of linear shoreline retreat.
Land Cover These land cover data sets document how much of Louisiana's coasta region is covered by forests, wetlands, impervious surfaces, agriculture, and other land and water types. By comparing these land cover data sets over a period of time, users can also document land use trends and changes.
Imagery Remote sensing technologies are usually the most cost-effective means of getting information for areas that are inaccessible, far away, difficult to traverse, require a broad view, or are too large to effectively manage or assess with traditional surveying methods.
T-Sheets These are a series of maps of the Louisiana coast between the years 1855-1948 created by the United States Coast Survey. These T-sheets provide an invaluable look at the shoreline condition over a century ago and serve as a starting point for analyzing shoreline change. These scans were produced by NOS, and provided by NOAA Coastal Services Center.
